RouDaiLLe nous indiquait une nouvelle espèce confirmée du genre Gramma avec le très joli Gramma dejongi.
Julian Sprung a également mis en évidence une autre livrée de Gramma et le poisson pourrait être nommé Gramma sprungi pour rendre hommage à ce grand homme de l'aquariophilie.
Les photos de ce Gramma sprungi sont les suivantes :
Ca bouge dans les grammas ! Cette couleur magenta n'est pas sans rappeler l'espèce melanacara, mais la différence est nette (pas de casque noir, arrière du corps très clair, voir blanc-transparent).

The Gramma is beautiful and it generates some questions ! If De Jong has that at Interzoo I'm sure it will generate a lot of excitement. You probably know that the amount of yellow versus magenta in Gramma loreto varies depending on where they occur. Some places the body is mostly yellow, with a magenta head, other places the body is mostly magenta, with a yellow tail. This new fish carries the variation to a new extreme. It may just be Gramma loreto, but of course it may be a new species, or, more intriguing, it may be a hybrid of Gramma loreto with something that has so far not been seen. or... you haven't crossed Gramma loreto with Assessor flavissimus have you ? I don't know if I mentioned it to you, but about 18 years ago I found a new Gramma species from Brazil. As you know the Brazilian Gramma is not Gramma loreto, but what is not known is that there is also a Brazilian blackcap basslet that is not Gramma melacara. It has a short body more like Gramma lincki, but it has the purple of elacara, and a whitish tail. So far it has not been described, and there was only one specimen collected. I sent it to Richard Pyle in Hawaii back then and he may have lost the specimen. I don't recall whether Jack Randall had a chance to see it. Fortunately I took photos of it. I also had the images here in my office, so I have attached them for you to see.
